Postcode Community Trust Round 2 Overview
Round 2 for Postcode Community Trust opened on 27th May at 9am and closed on 3rd June at 12 noon. From Round 2, there were 70 successful groups with a total funding amount of £1,162,333. This overview will hopefully give more insight into applying to Postcode Community Trust in the future and will include information from both Round 1 and 2. Please note, future funding rounds are not guaranteed to have the same success rate as this changes with the level of demand of each funding round.
Each application goes through a thorough assessment check, we use an internal scoring guide that is used for application assessment and will consider funding priorities when rounds are oversubscribed.
Overall Numbers
In total, 122 applications were received in Round 2 from organisations applying to Postcode Community Trust. 70 of these were successful, 38 were unsuccessful, 13 were deemed ineligible, and 1 was withdrawn after submission. This produced a success rate of 65% of eligible applications received. There were slightly less applications received in Round 1, where 81 applications were received by the Trust in total. The below table outlines numbers for Rounds 1&2.
Funding Priorities
Our funding priorities are different to our funding themes. More information can be found in our funding guide on this. Postcode Community Trust was slightly oversubscribed in Round 2, meaning that our funding priorities were required to help with decision making. The more funding priorities a group meets, the higher chance of receiving funding with a strong application.
For reference, our funding priorities are:
- Funding organisations with an annual income of £250,000 and below
- Funding for communities that rank as being within the top 15% on the Welsh Indices of Deprivation
- Funding for groups that are set up to support people from the following minority/marginalised groups
- Communities experiencing racial inequity
- Disabled people
- LGBT+ people
Due to the level of demand, the 70 successful groups funded in Round 2 all met at least one of our funding priorities. Groups that did not meet any funding priorities were unfortunately not able to be funded. Although we were able to support some organisations that met 1 priority, due to the demand other factors were considered in this funding round that meant not all groups that met 1 priority were funded.
Please note, the level of demand can change each funding round and the number of priorities required for funding is not a set parameter. Every application received by the Trust will be assessed and considered for funding.
Common Eligibility Fails
Out of the 32 applications that were deemed ineligible in Round 1&2, common eligibility issues included:
- The organisation was overdue in their reporting to Charities Commission/Companies House.
- The organisation applied for an amount that was over 1/3 of their most recent annual income.
- The submitted accounts did not meet our standard.
- The organisation applying are a smaller branch of a charity already funded by a Trust supported by People’s Postcode Lottery
- The applying organisation had a majority related board of Trustees/Directors
Reapplying
